2014 Course Details
This event is a community event and is organised by the residents of The Catlins. Tri Pounawea is an opportunity for the residents of The Catlins to show off Pounawea! Proceeds from this event are directed back into the community. Tri Pounawea has become an attractive event and has seen a strong field of over 100 competitors. This event is suitable for all levels from beginners to the experienced. We have had NZ Triathlete’s compete in past years, our own local Mitch McRae along with Rob Creasy. The event caters for both teams and individuals.
The course will take you on a journey through some of New Zealand’s extraordinary scenery. As well as the duathlon, the event in 2012 was expanded to include an 11 km walk or run and in 2014 two exciting new events have been added – a 34km road bike race and a 20km mountain bike race – both of which are on sealed roads. The 20km mountain bike event has been designed for recreational cyclists and is perfect for anyone reasonably new to cycling.
Registrations open at 9.00am with all events starting at 10.30am on Sunday 7th December 2014 and once again the Pounawea Convention Centre is the venue for the registration, briefing, start and prizegiving. Briefing will be at 10.15am and attendance is compulsory. Online entries are available or post a cheque - details on entry form. The closing date is 3.12.14 but late entries will be accepted on the day with an additional $5 late entry fee.
Please Note: Event start time maybe delayed for 1 hour and reviewed if weather conditions are deemed unsuitable.
Cancellation of the event will be broadcast on local radio stations, 91.3FM and 93.7FM, and on the website on the morning of the event.
No refunds will be available if the event is cancelled. No postponement date.
